Obviously we’re going fishing someplace that means an early start at dark am, but where… and for what?
This week, it’ll be Lake Texoma,.
Gee…i wonder why they call it Texoma? Let ‘s see. There’s texas…oklahoma… and a lake right there on the border. Texoma…hmm.
Anyway…it’s a classic southern reservoir built to regulate the red river and washitaw drainages while serving a number of other purposes at the same time.
Mike Warnom’s been a full time guide on texoma for over 25 years. Which brings us to why we’re motoring up to flooded trees and surfacing fish, just itching to throw topwater baits.
Nobody knows ‘em better down here than Mike—a guy who genuinely loves helping anglers get intimately acquainted with these amazingly hard-fighting, good tasting gamefish. And for a lot of good reasons, Lake Texoma is arguably one of the best places in the world for people to do that.
So the Denison dam and Lake Texoma were created in the 1930’s and 40’s to provide flood control, power generation and recreation. Well, the dam is holding up just fine and electricity sure doesn’t seem to be in short supply in Oklahoma either. As for recreation, in the form of wild striper action? Just tune in with us for all of that!
