Our
mission is to give the hunter
what
we feel is a TRUE 100% South
Dakota wild pheasant hunt.
In saying this, 90% or better
of the lodges that are claiming
a wild pheasant hunt are actually
releasing birds and are still
calling their hunts "South
Dakota wild pheasant hunting!"
We do not,
have not, and will not ever
release pen raised birds. Now
in saying this, we harvested
nearly 2,500 wild roosters
in 2003 and more the year before.
We attribute this to the great
habitat, knowing how to hunt
the great habitat, good communication
skills between the hunters,
guides and great dogs.
We
will expect your hunting
party to arrive sometime
late afternoon or early
evening the day before the
hunt. We
will spend your first night
getting acquainted with one
another and discuss the next
few days of hunting over
appetizers & cocktails
followed by dinner. Shooting hours change after
the first two weeks from 12:00
pm to 10:00 am. The hunt begins
when we board the Cain creek
limo, our 1982 4-wd Ford camouflaged
bus and start beating the bush
for roosters. Field transportation
is always included with our
hunts. The only other
break we shall take is for
lunch and we do leave this
one up to you as well. Some
of your options for lunch:
Some prefer just snacking between
one hunting field to the next,
great for the hunter that can't
get in enough hunting- or we
can head back to the lodge
for a warm meal.
This
is a great hunt in famous
big deer country. Illinois
has been producing monster
bucks for years and this
outfitter has been there
for most of them. Buddy has
spent 60 plus years exploring
this river bottom. Last year
hunters at this location
shot 20 bucks over 130" Pope
and Young.
Seasons:
Archery hunts
are 5 day hunts running from
October to November.
Shotgun hunts are 3 days in November and a 4 day hunt in December.
Muzzloader hunts are in December.
Spring Turkey is a 3 day minimum.
