A couple
of years ago I took three
of my daughters and some
friends on this breathtaking
mountain fishing vacation.
You drive into their base
camp at some 8 thousand feet
elevation and then go by
horseback further up the
mountain and campout. The
kids and I fished several
pristine mountain lakes that
were teeming with Cutthroats,
Rainbows and Cut bows. At
times it was nearly a fish
per cast!
One afternoon,
after an exhilarating mornings
fishing, we horse backed
up to about 13000 feet and
stopped for lunch at the
top of a cliff. While the
girls ate lunch we watched
an entire herd of Elk, about
1000 foot below having lunch.
I don’t think they’ll
ever forget that summer vacation
for the rest of their lives.
Most
people aren’t aware
that this type of a summer
vacation for families even
exists. But these guys have
been doing it for years....
everything organized and
taking care of for your,
very gentle horses (safe
enough that my 9 yr old rode
by herself and had no trouble)
and a competent staff to
see to your safety and excitement.
